🏊 Home Swim Meets & Random Thoughts 💭
July 7th
We learned so much from our first home swim meet! Here are some reminders/feedback to help our next two meets be an even bigger success!
- All swimmers need to stay in our team camp. They are more than welcome to set up chairs, tents, blankets, coolers, snacks, etc. and make it nice & comfy. Swimmers may go see family members following a race, but should return to camp so we can easily find them.
- Please remind your swimmers to CLEAN UP camp after the swim meet. We picked up a lot of trash after the last one, and we know we can improve in this area.
- We will do a better job of calling event #'s to the bullpen. I completely forgot to tell our starter to do that - so I take full responsibility for that lack of communication. It was her first time starting and she did fantastic! (Speaking of, we need a starter for tomorrow!)
- ALL volunteer positions need to be filled. While we appreciate some of your kiddos stepping in to help out last month, we have a big enough team to cover all areas, especially up in concessions. Volunteers are essential to running a successful, smooth event!
- Team Caps will be for sale at the swim meet! They are $10. We would really like every kid to grab one so we can look more polished and unified up on the blocks! 🦦
- We will run this meet in a condensed format. This means all 10&Under will swim together and all 11&Up will swim together. Heats will be created based on swimmers' times, not by age. For example, if a 7 year old and a 10 year old have comparable times, they will race together. This format creates really competitive heats that push your kids! Later, the computer will separate all the times and score them by age group. It also makes the meet run faster because all heats are full. The last race is scheduled to begin at 7:30pm tomorrow, and that's with 4 teams!
- Ribbons - I promise to get these caught up! I know how much the kids look forward to them and I do apologize for the delay in getting these out to you. I have been meeting myself coming and going but will make this a priority this week!
- Warm ups are fast and furious - we only get 20 minutes to warm up an entire team. Please try to be at the pool by 5:00pm with suits, caps, and goggles on and ready to go. If you can have event #'s written on your child before they arrive, this really helps our sanity. 😂 Event numbers can be found on the Swimtopia App.
- Heat/Lane assignments will be published on the Swimtopia App about one hour before the start of the meet. If you have the PRO version, you can see results as Miss Jenna enters and scores.
- We have right around 50 swimmers competing on Wednesday! Please get signed up for Saturday ASAP. Best of luck to our RIVER OTTERS!! 🦦
